Ella

We stand in front of the door to my house in the darkness, the sun now fully set. After the kiss we shared in the car, after those words he growled at me, I don’t think I’m capable of letting him walk away right now. I hope to god he doesn’t decide to blow cold at me again, and walk off.

“You’re coming inside, right?” I hedge, fully prepared to physically leap on Rho like a monkey and refuse to let go if he answers in the negative.

His brows lower. “Definitely.”

I send a quick glance to his truck, which he’s parked haphazardly in front of the house beside mine, as if he’s about to pull back out any minute now. “You’re sure?”

Instead of answering he steps into me, leans down, and quietly huffs, “Open your door. Now.”

“Yes, sir,” I mutter deliberately, feeling a not-so-small thrill at the way his dark eyes flare with heat, and he braces his palm on the door frame behind me.

Now there’s a new little detail that surprised me, in the best of ways.

I turn and put my keys into the lock before he can do anything I wouldn’t want the grapevine buzzing about. So much for taking control and making the first move. I’d barely given him the world’s most innocent kiss and touched his knee, and the way he completely flipped the script and took charge has me scrambling to keep up.

I’ve never had anyone so thoroughly take control, and it’s beyond thrilling. Even on our first night together he wasn’t quite this…domineering. As if he’s been holding himself back for too long lately, and now that he’s unleashed, he can’t quite rein it in anymore.

I shiver at the thought and push open the door.

And then my keys are yanked from my fingers and thrown to the side, the door slams behind us with a bang, and I’m swept up against a strong, warm chest before I can even turn around again.

“I’m assuming your room is upstairs?” he says, but he’s already taking the stairs two at a time and has come to the top rung before I can reply.

“Last door to the left!” I’m halfway between a laugh and a breathy whimper as he strides forward, hauling me against his chest bridal style, before practically kicking down the door to my room.

“Rhokar, you’ll break it!”

“I’ll have my people build you a new one,” he growls, completely unconcerned for my property. It takes him two solid strides to clear all the way across my room, before he dumps me unceremoniously on my mattress, and then looms over me for a long moment.

“Nice big, solid bed frame,” he mutters, before grabbing his shirt at the back of his neck and yanking it over his shoulders in one movement. “This won’t break. Good girl.”

My pussy throbs, my senses on overload. “Rhokar, if you don’t stop talking like that, I’m going to come before you even touch me.”
